Fall 2021 Workshop Series

This quarter, we are holding 6 workshops aimed at giving you hands-on experience. No experience is required! All workshops are open to all people, regardless of major.

A lab membership is required.

Circuits 10/9

In this workshop, we will walk you through lighting up an LED to building a basic addition calculator.

FPGAs 10/16

We will have a guest lecturer, Professor Jon Balkind. He will discuss what an FPGA is, where they are used today, and how to program one. You will build simple digital circuits in Verilog and program them to a Tang Nano.

Arduinos 10/23

In this workshop, we will walk you through what an Arduino is, where they are used today, and how to program one.

Bluetooth 11/6

In this workshop, we will walk you through what Bluetooth is and how to use it in your own projects. We will have a guest speaker, Bernie Conrad, a UCSB student and an Allthenticate software engineer.

PCB Design 11/13

In this workshop, we will walk you through what a PCB is (Printed Circuit Board) and show you different ways that they are designed and fabricated. We will have a guest speaker, Davis Thuillier, a 4th year UCSB student with experience designing and milling PCBs in campus research labs.
